1.11 Overview of Intimate Partner Violence
Intimate partner violence is one of the most common forms of violence against women.
It occurs in all counties, all cultures and all parts of society, among all cultural, religious and socioeconomic groups.
It can affect all ages, from adolescents to the elderly, at whatever age that someone has an intimate partner.
Although all genders can be perpetrators of intimate partner violence, men are the most common perpetrators and women make up the majority of survivors.
