5.4.6 Using Transportation

Discussion questions for safety planning when using transportation include the following:

1. How does the survivor travel to places where they need to be? For example, work, school, shopping, religious services, or friends and family’s houses.

2. Does the perpetrator know the routes that the survivor takes to travel places? If so, can the survivor change these routes?

3. Does the survivor have access to public transportation? Do they feel comfortable using it?

4. Does the perpetrator use the same public transportation as the survivor? If so, are there other transportation methods that the survivor could use?

5. Are there specific actions the survivor could take to help them feel safer when they travel?
